Innovations in Biodisk-Technology:
The bio-contactor technology has been successfully used in wastewater treatment for over a hundred years. The special advantage of the bio-contactor is the fixing of the biomass on solid surfaces for cultivating biological growth of the bacteria. Immersion disc contactors generally rotate semi-submerged in the wastewater. This process leads to high sludge ages of the cultivation, so that the biomass can adapt easily to various wastewater conditions, leading to a remarkable reduction of the excess sludge production.
System S&P® also uses this potential for the treatment of unique wastewaters. Scientific research shows the special treatment efficiency of the System S&P® technology. Even difficult wastewaters highly contaminated with polluting potential, such as high nitrogen contents, difficult biodegradable organic substances, or high mineral contents can be treated with a high efficiency by the self-adapting biomass.
Due to this increased ability of adaptation of the biomass situated on the rotating immersion disks many more applications in wastewater treatment are possible. These possibilities have been successfully achieved in cooperation with worldwide leading institutions.
